Blessed is the man who has the gift of making friends. It involves many things, but above all, it’s the power of going out of one’s self and seeing and approaching whatever is noble and living in the other man. — Thomas Hughes
I have always enjoyed sports and the great outdoors since school days. In my school days, I played netball in the school team and was an active participant in cross country runs.
As I stepped out into working life, I still continue to stay active especially with running. I have always enjoyed running by myself. It gives me the silence and focus I needed as I take each step. There are on some occasions where I join a few of my colleagues and buddies for a run but nothing beats running by myself, for myself.
Then I was introduced to ROCKrunners by a friend in 2018 and it is with this introduction that I got a different experience with a running group.
People run for different reasons – to stay in good shape, to train for a race and so on.
Whatever the reason is, being part of ROCKrunners can keep you motivated! The positive vibes and energy will help you to work towards a better performance and a better YOU!
ROCKrunners gives you an incredible sense of community. Whether you are racing together or cheering on your teammates, it is fun and rewarding to be connected with like-minded people who later on become friends.
I’m thankful to be given an opportunity to be part of SCSM Women Squad training runs last year which has taught me to be mindful of the needs of others and a lot about my own pacing strategy. Being a pacer, you have to go by your own watch, keep the group together and stay on pace. It is also important that as we run, we keep a lookout and encourage each other along.
I am indeed very blessed to have made new friends through my ROCKrunners journey.
