My close group of friends has always considered me as one of the “thinner girls”. Those are their thoughts, not mine though.
I see myself with flabby arms, a bloated tummy, a big butt and thunder thighs even till now as I am typing. When I choose to wear body-fitting clothes, I try to suck in my tummy as soon as I step out of the house. To me, it’s a “sacrifice” I have to make to look thin.
After going to the gym twice a week for a few months, I changed my goal from getting skinnier to getting fitter. I have accepted that my flabby arms may not get smaller but it can become firmer. I know that it is also not easy to lose that spare tyre around my waist if I keep sitting at work so I try to walk when I have the chance.
When I realise my arms got firmer and stronger, and my sense of balance improved, I feel a great sense of satisfaction and I know I am on the right track to gaining my confidence.
