Everyone has a story to share. I used to be an introvert and I developed a fear of my own body because I used to be known for “having thunder legs” and being the “quietest and least appealing” in class.
Coming from an abusive family, I often wonder if I deserve to be loved and that resulted in very low self-esteem, which many didn’t know about. I found comfort through the sports I played, in particular netball as it gives me a sense of achievement and valuable friendships.
Along the way, many people may find me over-enthusiastic about trainings but that was the only avenue for me to run away from my problems – the complicated family I was in and the burdens I was facing. I didn’t and couldn’t explain myself thus I just worked and pushed myself very hard in the sports I played, despite physically challenged (due to a diagnosis that I have a hole in my heart and have breathing difficulties at times of my life).
I want everyone to know that it is possible to shine if you put in effort. I get mocked and laughed at numerous times, I’ve been doubted for my intentions and sometimes I really feel like giving up.
But in recent years, I was introduced to the fitness industry and since then things have taken a change. I have grown to accept my body, be grateful for the things I have and embrace the changes in my life. Who would ever think a girl like me would go on the stage and compete? A girl who has nothing to show the world and who was deemed as weak.. I never thought I could but I did it
I went to Gold Coast and joined the Dana Carmont Fit Bikini Model Extravaganza which gave me the confidence for my stage walk and be proud of who I am. I met many friends overseas and came back to do more runway shows. I was given the privilege to be sponsored by a few companies and the opportunities just kept coming! For example, being one of the brand ambassadors for the upcoming Asia Extravaganza Muscle Hunk and Fit Bikini show held in Singapore!
Never once did I think that this could happen to me and this is a dream come true Will I stop here? No! I have much more energy to show and help others to grow in their dreams.
Along your path, you may think that what you are doing is not showing results, but fear not, because you are not the only one. Learn to celebrate every little success, learn to smile at every fall because without them, I won’t be as strong as I am today. Learn to lift others up so that as they rise, they may give you a hand too. I hope to continue to live to my motto – to live to inspire and Carpe Diem (seize the moment).
Your past doesn’t define you, who you are and what you do. Just be YOU!
